EDUCATION OUTREACH
R&D FOR INTERSTELLAR TRAVEL
LSI will conduct and fund applied R&D emerging from frontiers of physics and engineering as they apply to enabling fast interstellar transit.
Eagleworks: LSI will conduct R&D in laboratory facilities located near JSC exploring dynamic vacuum model.
LSI Grants: As part of the institute’s inauguration, LSI will be offering a series of research grants through the Interstellar Initiative Grants program.
UNIVERSITY PARTNERSHIPS
LSI partners with universities to jointly pursue mutual areas of interest from the leading edge of power and propulsion related physics to enable human exploration of the stars.
I2 Fusion Consortium: work with universities, industry, local and federal government to establish fusion research consortium
I2 Fission Consortium: initiate effort with focus on developing micro-reactors (~1MWe power), and foster development of nuclear thermal propulsion systems.
I2 Breakthrough Consortium: pursue fundamental physics research on the dynamic vacuum and other foundational physics topics.

2022 SUMMER COURSE
LSI is partnering with I4IS to present an Interstellar Studies 2022 Summer Online Course (July 25-29, 2022) titled:
“Human Exploration of the Far Solar System and on to the Stars”, an overview of spacecraft system functionalities needed for interstellar flight with emphasis on power and propulsion. Click below to register through EventBrite.
